DC vs KKR Qualifier 2: BCB to decide Shakib’s IPL final availability – Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) will make the final decision regarding Shakib Al Hasan’s availability for the IPL 2021 final should Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) make the final. The all-rounder has emerged as a vital option for Eoin Morgan’s side, especially with the injury to Andre Russell, chipping in effectively with both bat and ball. Shakib has already missed Bangladesh’s first practice game vs Sri Lanka due to IPL commitments and is set to miss another against Ireland, set to be played on October 14.

DC vs KKR Qualifier 2: Shakib available for crunch tie vs Delhi, call on IPL final to be taken by Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB)

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is yet to make on Shakib Al Hasan’s availability for the IPL 2021 Final, set to be played on Friday, October 15. The star all-rounder along with Mustafizur Rahman were asked to join the national team camp by October 10, but Shakib got an extension considering KKR’s run to the playoffs. Should the two-time champions make it to the final, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) will have to consider a number of factors before taking a call on SHakib Al Hasan’ availability.

Bangladesh begin their T20 World Cup qualifying campaign on October 17 against Scotland in Oman. Should KKR qualify and SHakib Al Hasan feature in the IPL 2021 final, the all-rounder will have to make a dash from Dubai to Bangladesh’s camp, where the team will also have to work out a rest period considering his relentless schedule.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury said that BCB would make a decision after the Qualifier 2 on Wednesday. Chowdhury told Cricbuzz on Tuesday, “We will make a final call regarding Shakib after the second qualifier of IPL. We have to take a lot of things into consideration as to how much time he is getting for rest if his team goes into the final and if he wants to play in that game whether he will have sufficient rest or not and we are working on it after taking relevant information about it.”

  • Shakib Al Hasan is available for the Qualifier 2 vs Delhi, but his IPL final availability remains in doubt.
  • The game should KKR qualify will be played on October 15, two days before Bangladesh begin their T20 World Cup qualification campaign.
  • BCB had extended his deadline to join the national team camp after KKR made it to the playoffs, but it remains to be seen whether the all-rounder will be allowed to feature against CSK.
  • Should he feature, he is likely to miss out on Bangladesh’s opening T20 World Cup Qualifier against Scotland in Oman.

Chowdhury said, “As he (SHakib Al Hasan) is carrying momentum playing competitive cricket in IPL so we are taking that into consideration as it is much more intense than the practice game.”

He added, “We are connected with team and team management. We are in talks with them about all the options about SHakib Al Hasan’s moving from Dubai to Oman. But first of all our eyes are on tomorrow’s second qualifier and then we will decide.”

Bangladesh face Scotland on October 17, followed by games against Oman and Papua New Guinea as they look to qualify for the Super 12 stage. As for Shakib, he’ll be hoping to feature against Delhi Capitals in Sharjah during the Qualifier 2, with his place in doubt due to Andre Russell’s potential return to the Kolkata Knight Riders side.
